Central America at 1:1,750,000 from Nelles Verlag, with its smaller size sheet offering a convenient format for use when travelling. Costa Rica is shown separately 1:900,000 and several insets provide street plans or enlargements of most visited towns, areas and archaeological sites.
The map divides the whole region north/south, with Costa Rica also covered separately in more detail at 1:900,000. Vivid relief shading, spot heights and names of mountain ranges present the topography. National parks and other protected area are marked.
Road network distinguishes between partially paved roads and dirt tracks, and shows distances on main routes. Railway lines and local airports are included, and the map also shows internal administrative boundaries with names of the provinces. Numerous places of interest are prominently marked, with the main Maya remains clearly highlighted. Latitude and longitude margin ticks are at 1° intervals. The map has no index of localities. Map legend includes English.
On the northern side of the maps numerous insets provides street plans (Mérida, Campeche, Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala), enlargements for popular areas (Riviera Maya, Cancún’s beaches, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Lake Atitlán) and detailed plans of archaeological sites (Chichén Itzá, Tulum, Copán, Tikal, Palenque and Uxmal).
The southern side with the more detailed map of Costa Rica also has a large inset with a street plan of central San José. All the plans and enlargements are annotated with places of interest and various facilities.
